Already confused...

Anyone know how to calculate the number of points in a food? After dinner, I'll be 6 points short of what I'm allowed, so I'm considering dessert... heh, heh, heh.

    Hey Catherine~

What food are you trying to get points on? ~laurie~

Last night, I was thinking of being bad. I have leftover ice cream- B&J Dublin Mudslide. Good, yet evil, stuff. I was good, though, and didn't have any. But it's still in my freezer, mocking me.
I also like homemade granola, so I need to figure out how to calculate the points in the recipe I use. Do I figure out the points on the individual ingredients and add them up then divide by serving? Or is it more complicated than that?
    Thanks, Laurie!

That is the correct way to calculate points for a recipe. The WW website will do it for you if you are a member so if you would like I can always volunteer to figure it up for you.

    Hey Crystal!
Thanks for your offer- I'm going to take you up on it. :)
Here's the recipe. It's by Kathleen Daelmans, and I got it from her first cookbook, but it's posted on foodtv.com.
When I made it, I only used 1 c. brown sugar, not 1.5. I do add dried fruit, and I think my next batch will have almonds rather than walnuts, but I can leave them out to get the points down. If you need any more info, please let me know. I really appreciate you doing this for me! I love granola, and I can't imagine not having it. It's actually one of my Atkins downfalls... :)

    1 1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup water
    4 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
    1 teaspoon salt
    8 cups rolled oats
2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts, or slivered almonds
